Regional Geology

Katanga Copper Belt Geology

Mineralisation is hosted by Lower Roan Group dolomites, shales and sandstones, as is typical to the belt. Ore forms over 1.4km of strike, and has been drilled to a maximum depth of 250m. The ore forms in two discrete mineralisation horizons, known as the Upper and Lower orebodies. The Upper ore body is oxidised and enriched and benefits from very low stripping ratios. The lower ore body is a mixed sulphide zone and requires flotation in the processing facility.
